Shannon off the board; Johnson unlikely

A couple of body blows to BC's coaching search today as Navy head coach Paul Johnson issued a statement today re-affirming his commitment to Annapolis, and ESPN is now reporting that Randy Shannon will be promoted to the head coaching job at Miami.

With those two names off the board, BC still has a wealth of candidates to choose from. As long as it's not Bob Davie or Randy Edsall, we will be fine.

Revised shortlist:

1. Mark Whipple
2. David Cutcliffe
3. Jim Fassel
4. Steve Kragthorpe
5. Bud Foster

Davie sucks, and you should be beaten senseless for typing those words. As Matt Millen can attest, it's a lot easier to talk about running a football team than it is to do it. So shaddap you morons and start focusing your desires on a man named Mark Whipple.

I have had a huge Whipple Boner since Wednesday night, and I have no intention of calling my doctor.

I am a long time Eagle fan, circa. Mike Esposito, living in Boise, Idaho. Attended the MPC Bowl last year. I have a name to add to the list for HC. Chris Petersen from Boise State University. I have watched this team for two years and have come away quite impressed. BSU has a great recruiting team that nabs quality skill players especially in Cali.,i.e., Ian Johnson, RB. I know the WAC is lame but Petersen is an offensive whiz. The other ACC teams will be floored by his offense. BC has the QB and defense to bring in an offensive minded coach. As I see it, OC Bible hasn't tapped into the abilities of the players BC has. Petersen has a great rep with his players which will help in the transition. He also can "coach 'em up". BSU doesn't get the top recruits but he does have some very good players, that play with a lot of heart. Plus he guided an undefeated team to the Fiesta Bowl this year. You know, the bowl TOB failed to get to BCs last year in the Big East. If anything, I hope the AD sticks to a coach in the D-IA or pro ranks. This is a statement hire. The AD needs to get it right.

I don't understand the dislike and utter contempt for Tom O'Brien.

Please, please, please take Randy off our hands!!! Only Randy Edsall would design "pass first" game plans with two great running backs and two quarterbacks that couldn't find a secondary wide receiver if their lives depended on it. He is the "deer in the headlights" in Div 1-A. The honeymoon is over, nice knowing you!!
