Weekend Preview

Two BC teams seek to recover from WTF losses this weekend, as the hockey team travels to Merrimack tonight and the football team hosts Duke tomorrow on ESPNU.

This is a huge game for the hockey Eagles. Despite a pair of great wins in Madison, the team has been struggling and has already suffered 3 losses to subpar opposition (although it should be noted that with the wins over the Badgers as well as the season-opening W over what is looking to be a pretty solid Northeastern team, we are 3-0 against quality opponents so far). Tonight's trip to Hockey East's answer for Storrs provides another opportunity for BC to play down to the level of its opposition. That said, I think the team will come out fired up and take this one home. With a brutal stretch coming up consisting of games at Northeastern, home against Maine, at UNH, and a home-and-home with Eurabia Tech-Kenmore, it is absolutely vital that BC take both points tonight. Unlike many BC fans I'm not pressing the panic button just yet, but a loss or even a tie tonight could cause that to happen. Prediction: BC 3, Merrimack 0

Football takes on Duke tomorrow.

Dude, it's Duke. They suck.

Prediction: BC 38, Duke 3

Basketball also takes the court tonight for the season opener against UNH. BC should take this one, with or without Sean Williams and Akida McLain. This game will begin to show us whether or not Sean Marshall can help out on outside shooting, or whether it'll be all up to Tyrese Rice once again. If both Seans as well as Rice have big years, there is no reason BC can't make a push for the Final Four.

YouTube brings us visual representation of the life of a BC sports fan. I'm pretty sure it's actually about the Philadelphia Eagles (who I'm also a diehard fan of, lucky me) but it fits nonetheless. Enjoy.
